From July 28 through August 14, 2009, the Pride in Art Festival - Vancouver's premiere queer arts festival - celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a mutli-faceted programme at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews in Yaletown).

This year, the Pride in Art Festival embraces the theme Faerie Tales: Telling Our Stories. Through visual art, film, theatre, music, literature, story telling and workshops, the programme crosses genres and disciplines to express how myths and legends have shaped Queer communities.

The Festival challenges artists and audiences to explore the symbols and archetypes that help to build queer identities and stories. Whether dark or light, serious or whimsical, these sometimes political fables have a far reaching effect upon our collective psyche.

From art exhibitions to Taiko drumming, theatrical readings to choral workshops, the Pride in Art Festival offers view points that are serious and entertaining, thought-provoking and humorous.
