Tuesday, 09 February 2010

With only a few days left until the beginning of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Olympic Torch Relay will arrive in Vancouver on Thursday and will make an appearance in the gay village along Davie Street around 8am on Friday, February 12th.

On February 11th and 12th, the Olympic Flame will travel throughout Vancouver including the Downtown penninsula.

Included in the run is an official celebration site at Alexandra Park (1755 Beach Avenue across from the English Bay Bathhouse) beginning at 7:30am sponsored by the West End Business Improvement Association.  The celebration site will not only welcome the torch to Vancouver's gay village and the West End, but will also feature live entertainment and a pancake breakfast.

The map below shows some of the route through the downtown area.  You can download a full Vancouver Torch Relay guide, which includes the route for both February 11th and 12th plus details of all the city's celebration sites along the route, from the City of Vancouver website.
