It's not just the straight media that have said that we live in the best place on earth but now we can add one of the most influential online GLBT resources to our long list of accolades - PlanetOut and its annual Travel Awards.

Since 1994 PlanetOut has recognized the "best of the best" in gay travel.  Everything from the best cities in the world to best film festival to best airline - the PlanetOut Travel Awards have it all covered.

According to PlanetOut the finalists and winners are chosen by its own travel experts as well as input from members at Gay.com and PlanetOut.

Here's what PlanetOut had to say about Canada being "country of the year":

Famous the world over as a forerunner for progressive LGBT politics and culture, Canada continues to maintain this reputation by setting new standards for other countries to follow.

Runners-up in this category included the United Kingdom and Argentina.

Only one question for PlanetOut though - where's our trophy?
