Describing the group as a "family", Jones also pointed to the support the troupe gives to its members. "It is not uncommon to see Bobbers in the audience laughing and applauding on night when they are not scheduled to perform". Getting paid for being part of the show is an added bonus as well. "It's not a lot but, hey, it is something". Asked why someone would want to get involved with the show, Jones said: "... it becomes a stepping stone for other projects including corporate shows, plays, short films and other stage formats. It's not an easy show though it's creative but hard while still being fun. You develop a tough skin and build confidence, well, some do, some quit instead. Only the strongest get to the Top and only the funniest stay there." Jones explained that the audition process will be conducted by a jury of three Bobbers who will ask prospective members to improvise a monologue and then you will do a couple of improvised scenes with them. "They have a rating sheet and without discussion they rate the auditions and then the scores are added up. The top two high scores are the next two Bobbers." An inclusive group, The Bobbers encourage all ethnicities and all types of queer identities to audition. Tops & Bottoms Auditions |
