While Vancouver's other major theatre company presents two Christmas classics as their holiday offerings, the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company is going in a decidedly different direction as they present the hit Broadway musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels based on the 1988 movie starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin. Considered a hilarious take on the ultimate con, Lawerence and Freddy are almost exact opposites - one a sauve gentleman who cons rich ladies out of their money, the other a small time thief who cons women into giving him money by telling made up stories about his grandmother’s failing health. As the two clash, the real con begins with the loser having to leave the small French town that isn't big enough for the two of them.
“I’m really excited that Scoundrels will star Elena; we are going to have so much fun with this show,” Reimer says “especially when you add Andrew Wheeler as Lawrence Jameson and Josh Epstein as Freddy Benson. The chemistry between these three will be electrifying.” Dirty Rotten Soundrels |
