Vancouver's Outgames are more than just sport |

With less than three months to go, and athletes from as far away as Nigeria, Australia, Germany, London and Japan attending, the North America 2011 Vancouver Outgames is moving ahead full steam ahead. But more than just sports, this summer’s Outgames, taking place in Vancouver from July 25-31, also includes a human rights conference and a cultural celebration.
The second component to the Vancouver Outgames is the Human Rights Conference, taking place at the Sheraton Wall Centre July 26 - 28. Featured keynote speakers will include Blake Skjellerup (Olympic short track speed skater), Sara Davis Buechner (Professor of Music UBC and concert pianist) and Stephen A. Glassman, Chairperson of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. The third component of the Outgames is the Cultural Celebration which will include a flag run, opening and closing ceremonies, Womenzone, a performance showcase and medal ceremonies.
