For seven days in July, Vancouver will play host to another international gathering of sports enthusiasts as it welcomes participants in the North America OutGames.
The North America OutGames joins the AsiaPacific OutGames, which take place in New Zealand in March 2011, as one of two smaller continental versions of the World OutGames. The next World Outgames, the larger international event, is scheduled to take place in Antwerp, Belgium in 2013. Along with sports, the Games will also include the human rights conference with workshops on diversity and an awards ceremony recognizing individuals and corporations that have influenced LGBT rights. Other scheduled events during the week long Games include a job fair, a Miss GLISA Pageant, cultural activities, a closing gala and a march of athletes in the 2011 Vancouver Pride Parade.
