While La Roux (Elly Jackson) refuses to classify herself as gay, straight or bisexual, she has become somewhat of a reluctant lesbian icon and is sure to thrill her many women fans when she returns to Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom for her sold-out show on April 18th.
But for her, it really is all about the music. And with a collision of electronic danceability and painstaking songwriting, La Roux unquestionably became one of 2009's sure-fire new Brit stars and is destined to continue her success into 2010. While perhaps evoking the heart-palpitations of jelly-bean-era Madonna, La Roux (red haired one), stands loud and proud in a crop of cool new pop. Featuring trademark 80’s-influenced pop and a signature coif, La Roux has the ability to make crowds go ballistic and has even been referred to as a British version of Lady Gaga. La Roux |
