Tuesday, 30 august: sex addicts anonymousQMUNITY, British Columbia's queer resource centre, opens up its space to the Greater Vancouver Sex Addicts Anonymous to offer help to those struggling with a sex addiction. Mirrored after other similar 12 step programs, this group meets to share experience, strength, and hope for the purpose of recovering from an obsession with sex and compulsive sexual behavior. Wednesday, 31 AUGUST: pacific rim curling registrationIt's hard to believe that with Vancouver's summer just getting started that we're already thinking about winter sports. Now in its 28th season of throwing rocks at houses, the Pacific Rim Curling Club is looking for new members to join its growing ranks. This year the group moves into the Olympic built curling rinks at Queen Elizabeth Park and will even host the 2012 Canadian Gay National Curling Championships in February of next year. This year's Festival which runs until September 11, 2011 includes three LGBTQ films including features Casa vieja and As melhores coisas do mundo (The Best Things in the World) plus the short En aguas quietas (Still Waters). sunday, 4 september: vancouver international tap festivalThe Vancouver International Tap Festival ends its four day celebration of everything tap with A Night at the Waldorf. Taking Vancouver's legendary The Cave nightclub as its inspiration, the Vancouver Tap Ensemble has re-created what they think the legendary masters of dance who have performed at The Cave, shared with Vancouver audiences "back in the day."
