Another diverse week in Vancouver with a networking opportunity, film, some theatre and even a couple of Playboy playmates all in the mix. Here is our list of gay choices for the week of June 27 to July 3, 2011. And just in case we forget on Friday: have a fun (and safe) Canada Day! Of course, you'll want to check our Events Calendar for details of all the latest happenings around the city. You can also get our daily events feed directly on your iGoogle homepage! Got an event? Send us the details and we'll get it added to our calendar (and maybe see it listed here in the coming weeks). monday, 27 June: SuitsPostive Living BC (formerly the BC Persons With AIDS Society) presents its monthly dinner for working HIV+ gay men. Join other professionals at this social networking event at various Vancouver restaurants. This month the group meets at Steamworks in Gastown. RSVP required. Visit http://www.positivelivingbc.org for more information or email support@positivelivingbc.org. Tuesday, 28 June: Beginners
Wednesday, 29 JUne: a closer walk with patsy clineYou don't need to be a Patsy Cline fan to appreciate the work of Vancouver actor Sara-Jeanne Hosie in this tribute to one of the first country/pop cross-over stars. While this tribute may not get Cline neophytes any closer to understanding the woman behind the music and her emotional songs, one thing is for sure: you’ll definitely go crazy for Sara-Jeanne’s performance. Visit http://www.artsclub.com for tickets and information. thursday, 30 June: hershe bar - where the girls are!
friday, 1 july: britney spearsIt's Britney, bitches! What better way to celebrate Canada's day than with a Britney Spears concert. Okay, so it might not be the most patriotic way to celebrate our nation's birthday but we're pretty sure Britney got our memo and red and white will be on the fashion menu. We are a little surprised but tickets are still available online. saturday, 2 july: the verona project
sunday, 3 july: audio teabag Tea danceThe boys from Thickset are back with another of their FREE tea dances. DJ G-Luve joins Taffi Louis with an assortment of audio oddities including old rare disco, modern electro, indie, synthpop, 80s new wave, and much more! Like all Thickset parties, while it's aimed primarily at bearish folks and their admirers, you certainly don't have to be either to attend. Stick around after as East Van's drag show Apocalypstick! takes to the stage at 9pm. Visit http://www.thickset.ca for more information. Woof! |
