A couple days after being crowned Gay Top Model for 2011, Todd Johnston is still surprised by his win.
Johnston, who beat out eight others for the title in a live finale at the River Rock Casino on April 23rd, also took home five of a possible nine awards during the months long competition: swimwear, underwear, poster/fetish wear, colleague award as voted by his fellow model competitors and the photogenic award. As the winner, Johnston receives a cornucopia of prizes including the opportunity to escort a gay tour of Cuba, a weekend trip to WinterPRIDE, a spa package plus a showcase in Vancouver's V-Rag and a special shoot with photographer Nicolas Jang. Gay Top Model is a project of Mirateca Arts and raises awareness and funds for Vancouver's Friends for Life Society. "I am excited to see what the future has in store for our new winner," says producer and the creator/director of Gay Top Model, Terry Costa. "Also, we thank all our partners and supporters that help us build this amazing competition, for without them it would not be possible to produce such event and raise much needed cash for our charity Friends for Life". "I was not expecting it," said Johnston, pictured right taking his final walk on the catwalk following his win. "A flood of emotions took over my body and I was not sure which ones would surface. It was overwhelming. But above all, it was a blast."
