It could very well be a first, as the screaming fans shouted last night at Vancouver's Next Gay Top Model finale: "the red-head wins". Scotish heritage, red-head, Calan Breckon won the competition after a three month schedule of tasks, challenges, charity work and public presentations.
After two hours of packed entertainment, the original Gay Top Model winner, Aaron Ursacki, presented the audience with the top three finalists who received attention from the guest judges who had the final vote that chose Calan as the winner. "The race was so close with a mere 2% difference between Calan and second-place Joel, that I Model Management will be signing both contestants to their model roster", announces Terry Costa, the project producer and show director. "The event was able to raise over $1500 for our charity Friends for Life, despite the drop in sponsorship for the project," added Costa, "not forgetting that it's all possible due to an incredible team of volunteers and the amazing talent that surrounds our company." Television and film star Charlie David was on board to present the two winners that will grace the cover of his book Boy Midflight and Mr. Gay Canada Darren Bruce and last years winner of the Sweat Under Gear Challenge presented Joel as his successor to the title Sweat Under Gear Challenge winner. Calan, as the winner of Vancouver's Next Gay Top Model receives a 2-year modeling contract from I Model Management; a flight for two to London-England courtesy British Airways, a weekend getaway to Whistler courtesy gaywhistler.com with transportation in the lavish Whistler Mountaineer train; products from Juju Beauty Salon + Spa, Sweat Under Gear, Otter Fashion, Flaming Angels Boutique; photo shoots by Nicholas Jang; cover of Outlooks Magazine... and lots of love!
