Abra Kadabra, Undercover Brother, Jihad Jack. Indie band names? Nope. Try moustaches. These and many other moustache styles are likely to be on display as the LGBTQ community comes together to crown the second annual Man of Movember on Sunday, November 28th in a fundraiser for Prostate Cancer Canada.
As Movember comes to a close, the local LGBTQ community led by Team Mo’Ho, celebrates and raises additional funds with its Man of Movember contest. This year’s event takes place on November 28th at The Cobalt with the first place winner walking away with the Man of Movember Blazer and coveted stainless steel steer horns for his (or her) "mantelpiece of manliness". Additional prizes will go to second and third place winners, as well as a raffle and giveaways throughout the evening. In addition to the Movember fundraiser, guests will be entertained by the Mo' edition of Apocalypstick, East Van's Drag show featuring the Queen of the East Isolde N Barron and her special guests and tunes from DJs Robo Santa and Jef Leppard. “If you’ve been growing a moustache, this is your time to shine,” said organizer Adam Dreaddy. “If you haven’t, here’s your chance to come and help raise money for a cure”.
