The LOUD Foundation, which provides scholarships to future leaders of the GLBT community, announced the four recipients for 2010: Ryan Clayton, Jacob Schroeder, Taylor Basso and Julie Browne.

LOUD Scholarships

LOUD was founded by the Gay and Lesbian Business Association in 2008 with the mission to invest in the future leaders of the GLBT community. According to the LOUD spokesperson, the four scholarships this year were awarded to students who demonstrated vision, leadership and compassion with a direct impact on the GLBT community.

"It is so fulfilling to find a community that you embrace that embraces you back,” said Schroeder after he had heard the news he would be receiving a scholarship.

Clayton, who received word of his own scholarship while on transit said, "I am dancing on the bus! Thank you all so much".

“We are very excited about the diversity of our recipients this year,” said Tyler Wozny, President of the LOUD foundation. “Education for our future leaders provides them with the skills they need to make a difference in the GLBT community”.

Jim Deva, Co-owner of Little Sister's, who sat on the final selection committee over the weekend said, “Judging the many amazing applications for the LOUD scholarship fund fills me with hope for the future and appreciation of the dedication and brilliance of the LGBT community.”

LOUD will celebrate the winners of the 2010 scholarships at a gala on May 20th. Tickets are available to the public at Priape, Little Sisters and online at http://www.GLBA.org.
