Queer arts festival puts out call for submissions

While Vancouver's next Queer Arts Festival doesn't take place until July and August in 2010, organizers have put out the call for submissions for performance, visual arts and the PiA (Pride in Art) Cabaret.

The 2010 Queer Arts Festival (formerly Pride in Art Festival) promotes the production and exhibition of queer art culminating with the Festival which coincides with Vancouver's annual pride celebrations. The 2010 version, titled Queertopia: The Best Place on Earth?, will take place July 27th through August 15th.

Celebrating a wide range of artistic disciplines including painting, installations, sculptures, textiles, 2D or 3D, music, dance and theatre, the 2010 Festival will focus on the utopian or dystopian vision of the artists within their own imagined Queertopia.

Submission Deadlines for the 2010 Queer Arts Festival:

January 15, 2010: Performance proposals (excluding Cabaret)
February 1, 2010: Submissions for 2010 Visual Arts Exhibition
February 15, 2010: Submissions for Clean Sheets: Canada's Queer Play Workshop Series
April 1, 2010: Proposals for PiA Cabaret 2010
