27th Annual Jessie Award Nominations Announced

The nominees for the 27th Annual Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards were announced at the Nominations Party held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the New Revue Stage.

With Vancouver's diverse theatre community there were over 130 individuals nominated in more than 25 categories, a true testament to the outstanding talent and creativity of the artists who contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the city. Nominations include:

Outstanding Production, Large Theatre

The Drowsy Chaperone - Playhouse Theatre Company
The History Boys - Arts Club Theatre Company
The Tempest - Bard on the Beach
Titus Andronicus - Bard on the Beach
Where the Blood Mixes - Playhouse Theatre Company & The Savage Society

Outstanding Production, Small Theatre

Blackbird - Rumble Productions & Theatre Conspiracy
Glengarry Glen Ross - Main Street Theatre Equity Co-Op
Lentement la beauté - Théâtre la Seizième
Life Savers - Ruby Slippers Theatre
No Exit - Electric Company Theatre & The Virtual Stage

The Jessies' 27th Anniversary celebration will be held on Monday, June 15th at the Commodore Ballroom, 868 Granville Street beginning at 6:45pm. Doors open at 5:30pm, dinner is available. Tickets are $25 plus applicable surcharges available at Ticketmaster at 604-280-4444, online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
