Spend 69 seconds with Vancouver filmmaker Cal Garingan whose movie Waiting 4 Goliath screens as part of The Coast is Queer on August 16th at the 2010 Vancouver Queer Film Festival. 01Your first job. 02The job you wanted as a child. 03Your favourite movie. 04What's getting the most play on your iPod right now. 05Your pet peeve. 06The three things you would want with you on a deserted island. 07Your hero. 08One thing no one knows about you (and you are willing to share). 09 One word your best friend would use to describe you. 10 The one thing any visitor to Vancouver simply cannot miss … and the Queer Film Fest is not a proper answer. MEET Cal Garingan
Featured in The Los Angeles Times as a promising young talent, Cal Garingan earned his MFA in Film and TV Production from Chapman University, California.
Cal has written and directed two films produced by the National Film Board of Canada: WHY THEE WED, a documentary on British Columbia’s historic same-sex marriage case; and JADED, a satire on racism in the workplace. Cal’s latest film is WAITING 4 GOLIATH, a “romantic-dramatic-comedy” on online dating that won the Citytv/Out On Screen prize for writing. Cal's movies have played at the Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival, the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival and is set to play as part of The Coast is Queer at the 2010 Vancouver Queer Film Festival. |
